I want to disable the Windows key during games other than CoD

Call of Duty is the epitome of FPS.

I think that there are many PC users, but when using the keyboard because quick reactions are required, there are times when you make a mistake.

Unlike a gamepad, there are many unused keys, so it can't be helped.

During the game, most of the keys do not respond if they are not specified, but only the Windows key responds.

Then the game will be interrupted, and in the worst case, an error will occur, and you will not be able to return.

Even though the game was progressing well, it would be painful if the game was interrupted due to a small mistake.

In my case, I sometimes had to use the Windwos key shortcut to get out of freezes, take screenshots and videos, so I had to keep one (in my case, the left Windows key) alive.

In addition, this method can be used in PC games that use keyboards other than Call of Duty.

Guard physically

I'm using a normal keyboard.

If this is a gaming keyboard, it seems that there is a function to prevent mistouches, but if you want to make do with the keyboard you have for the time being, you first have a physical guard like this.

It's just a thin plastic membership card folded and clipped to the key.

You can block the right Windows key, but not the left one.

I can't even press the left Ctrl key.

Why I need to prevent the right windows key is a personal matter as it has to do with my key placement.

It guards well, but if you hit it a little hard with your finger, it will fly away, and you can think of losing it, which is a lot of trouble.

Also, the default key layout that many people use doesn't make much sense, and it doesn't make sense unless you prevent the important ← Windows key.

If you don't mind removing the keys on the keyboard, you may want to try this as there are regular products that attach parts that make it impossible to press the keys.

Use the app

So, it takes some time to install and set up the app, but it's not that complicated, so I'll introduce what I'm currently using.

The above site explains how to disable both the left and right Windows keys, but you can also leave one so that you can use it by changing the text you enter as follows.

(In my case, I only entered "RWin::return" because I wanted to disable only the right key. If you want to disable the left Windows key, just enter "LWin::return".)

If you don't want to install apps but it's ok both Windows keys can be disabled

First, I tried disabling the windows key with a registry edit.

However, it didn't work very well, and AutoHotkey made it easy, so I'm using it.

If you don't want to install extra apps, and you don't mind losing both Windows keys, editing the registry is effective.
